My Favourite Vintage Store In Florence

Posted by Victoria Lochhead on

I've just got back from a rather warm few days in Florence.  As well as the wonderful food, beautiful architecture and delightful streets and squares to explore, I was looking forward to finding out more about the vintage vibe.

Florence is a city bursting with amazing vintage shops (just google "vintage shops Florence" to get comprehensive lists and guides - there are so many as well as markets and flea markets) and they're spread all over the city, but with a particular concentration south of the river in the Oltrarno district.  Here we discovered my favourite - Recollection by Albrizi - a beautiful treasure trove of immaculate items just waiting to be re-loved.  So as well as rummaging through amazing silks and designer labels, I snapped a few photos to show you.

Tables groaned with silk scarves, rooms were filled with immaculate outfits, and exploring led us from room to room; each full of beautifully presented treasures.

I especially loved this wardrobe of powder coloured silk nightwear.

There were also quite a few kimonos, each beautiful in design.  The range of bags and accessories was bigger than I've seen in any other vintage store.

I was also surprised by how many complete sets and outfits there were - and all in such wonderful condition.  This shop is like a treasure trove of top end vintage discoveries.  If you go to Florence, I can recommend a visit here, and there are more vintage stores close by to explore, a great coffee shop and lots of small interesting independent shops to discover all within walking distance.  Plus, just along the road in the Piazza Santo Spirito we found a clothing market which was full of stallholders selling vintage items.  Quite a different browsing experience, but reasonably priced Levi's 501 Jeans and a big range of (mainly Italian) great brands were to be found on the rails.

Apparently on the second Sunday of every month (apart from July and August) there is an even bigger vintage market in this square selling all kinds of collectibles, books and clothing.

I loved my time exploring the vintage shops of Florence!  If you've been somewhere on holiday and found some great vintage or preloved shops or markets, do let us know in the comments below.
