Give Your Wardrobe a Little Autumn Love With Our Five Step Revival Plan

Give Your Wardrobe a Little Autumn Love 🍂

If your wardrobe is groaning under the weight of summer leftovers or it’s been a while since your last proper clear out, then the change in seasons is your perfect cue to hit refresh.

Last week, I ran a series of live videos in our lovely Facebook group to walk through a simple five-day wardrobe revival plan—and this blog is your cheat sheet version. It’s gentle, it’s manageable, and it might just make you fall in love with your clothes again.

We do this twice a year—spring and autumn—so our wardrobes stay fresh, stylish and, most importantly, functional (no more staring at a sundress when it’s 3°C and raining).

So pop the kettle on, cue up your favourite playlist, and let’s take it one day at a time.

Before you begin

Gather a few essentials:
📝 Notebook & pen
đŸ§ș Bin bags (for charity/recycling)
🧳 Storage bags (for out-of-season stuff)
đŸȘ Spare hangers
đŸ“± And if you haven’t tried it yet: the Save Your Wardrobe app is free and fab.

Day 1: Out of Sight, Out of Season

If you can’t wear it now, it doesn’t need to be in your wardrobe right now.
Start by packing away summer clothes—fold, bag, or vacuum-pack them into hibernation. I store mine under the bed in those air-suck bags (so satisfying).

Don’t stress about sorting them properly—your feelings on that maxi dress will be clearer in spring. Just get them out of sight.

Same goes for occasional pieces (hello, ballgown), things that don’t fit but you still love (put them away kindly), and anything off-season that the charity shop doesn’t want yet. It’ll all have its moment—just not now.

Day 2: Try Everything On (Yes, Everything)

Now that your summer kit’s out of the way, it’s time to see what’s left. Pull out all your autumn/winter clothes—wherever they’re lurking—and get trying. This is your wardrobe’s audition.

Ask yourself:

  • Do I actually like this?

  • Will I wear it in the next six months?

  • Does it fit?

  • Is it in good nick?

  • Does it deserve space in my wardrobe?

Group things by type (trousers, tops, jumpers etc), and pop the keepers back in colour order from dark to light—it’ll look lovely and make mornings easier. One item per hanger, please. Knitwear? Fold it. It doesn’t enjoy hanging.

Fold your drawer items in such a way that they stand up on their sides in the drawer - aka the Marie Kondo method - it makes it so much easier to see everything you have and nothing gets forgotten at the bottom of a pile.

Top tip: the Save Your Wardrobe app lets you photograph and digitally store outfit ideas too, and the background remover is oddly addictive.

Day 3: Say Goodbye (Kindly)

Now deal with the pile that didn’t make the cut. Sort into:

  • Sell: Vinted, eBay, dress agency—you know the drill.

  • Donate: to your favourite charity shop (just not summer stuff in October, thanks).

  • Recycle: rags, holey tights, even lone socks—most councils or big clothes banks will take them. Just label the bag clearly.

  • Repurpose: fancy a go at upcycling? Pinterest and YouTube are your friends.

You may also have a “to repair” pile. Get it cleaned, stitched, hemmed or altered—and pop it in the diary so it actually happens. A good local seamstress is a wardrobe’s best friend.

Day 4: Don’t Forget the Extras

Time to tackle the rest:
Shoes, bags, scarves, belts, underwear, jewellery, pyjamas, gym kit
 the lot.

These bits often live in forgotten corners, so give them some attention. A tidy drawer of socks or beautifully displayed necklaces is a small daily joy. Hang scarves where you can see them, move handbags into the light, and maybe even put your favourite earrings on a corkboard inside the wardrobe door. If you can see it, you’re more likely to wear it.

Day 5: Make Outfits & Write a List

Now the fun bit.
Start playing dress-up and see what combinations you can make. Take photos, build a lookbook in your app, or stick print-outs inside your wardrobe door like a style cheat sheet for when mornings are busy and you need some go-to outfits ready made.

You’ll probably notice a few gaps (hello, brown boots or green jumper), so jot them down. That becomes your shopping list—nothing more, nothing less. It keeps spending purposeful and sustainable, and stops you impulse-buying another black top (you already have five, promise).

And breathe...

You did it! Five days to a wardrobe that works with you, not against you. One that suits your current body, your current lifestyle, and the current weather (radical idea, I know).

This whole process is about getting more joy from the clothes you already own, spending less, and loving your style a little more each season.

If you’d like to go deeper, our Seasonal Style Package might be just your thing—we’ll work together to create a style board, build fresh outfits, and fill any wardrobe gaps thoughtfully.
